Step-by-step guide

How to create and use course templates

Package reusable course structure, set rights and pricing, publish it, acquire a template, and create a new editable course.

A template packages reusable course structure or an exercise group. Creating a course from it makes a separate editable copy; later template edits do not silently rewrite that course.

Step 1. Open Templates

Click Templates. Search the catalog, use My templates for packages you authored, and use the acquired view for packages available to instantiate. Open an existing card before creating a near-duplicate.

Search the catalog and switch to templates you created or acquired.

Step 2. Create the template foundation

Click Create template. Enter a specific title and rich description that states audience, prerequisites, included structure, and exclusions. Confirm that you own or may distribute every included item. Choose Free, Fixed price, Royalty, or Fixed price + royalty. Fixed price is paid at acquisition; royalty is the displayed percentage applied under the template terms. Enter only valid non-negative amounts and the allowed percentage, then read the guarantee/rights wording before confirming it.

Enter public metadata, ownership confirmation, and the pricing model.

Step 3. Select what the template contains

Choose a source Course or Exercise group. For a course template, inspect the copied metadata, modules, lesson shells, and supported configuration. Lesson media/content and homework may be excluded by the product rules, so the preview—not the source course alone—is the contract. Remove private learner data and licensed material that cannot be redistributed.

Select a source course or exercise group and review what will be copied.

Step 4. Preview and publish the package

Open Preview and read it as another teacher: title, author, description, item type, included counts, fixed price, royalty, guarantee, and rights confirmation. Save as a draft while correcting it; publish only when the package and commercial terms are accurate.

Template preview
Review the public package, terms, price, royalty, and included structure.

Step 5. Acquire a template

Open a catalog template and click the acquisition action. Free templates confirm immediately. Paid templates show the available method, such as platform balance or PayPal, and the exact price. Confirm once and wait for success; repeated clicks can create duplicate payment attempts. The acquired template then appears in your library.

Template acquisition
Confirm a free or paid acquisition with the displayed balance or PayPal flow.

Step 6. Create and review a course from it

Open the acquired template and click Create course. Enter any requested copy title and confirm. Open the resulting course in Courses, add or replace excluded lesson content and homework, verify rights, pricing, access, grade, certificate, and collaborators, then preview as a learner before publishing.
